About the Presentation

Have you ever imagined going on a voyage with Marco Polo and exploring the land under Kublai Khan’s reign, where Chinese, Persians, Arabs, Indians, Africans and Europeans intermingled?

Globalisation is not just a phenomenon of today’s world. The trade route in the ancient world was just as busy, with treasure ships loaded with tea, silk, chinaware, spices, and people of various faiths. Cultures and religions travel between the east and the west, along with goods. Come and explore the largest port of the world at the time of Marco Polo and Ibn Batutta, the museum of world religions, the city of light, in the starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road.

About the Presenter

As a seeker of truth, Min had pondered upon big questions about life and the world since she was young. She searched for answers in philosophy, religion, spiritual practice, poetry, and art. It was this spiritual journey that led her to the Theosophical Society. Her academic background includes MA with Honours in Applied Linguistics, MA in Literature as well as Graduate Diploma in Translation & Interpreting. She also has a keen interest in history, especially that of the Silk Road.

Since 2006, Min has presented lectures at the TS Brisbane Lodge, covering topics such as Confucianism, Buddhism, the impact of translation on the spread of religion, as well as religious syncretism, poetry and spirituality. Min is currently working as a translator, an interpreter, and a teacher. She is also an active member of TS and TOS.
